Looking for a top family dentist near you? Our Philosophy & Approach to FAMILY Dentistry

Family or general dentistry is an integral part of healthcare that focuses on the overall health of the teeth and mouth. While many people may think of dentistry as simply a way to clean and whiten their teeth, general dentistry encompasses a wide range of services and treatments designed to promote healthy teeth and gums, prevent oral health issues, and correct any problems that may arise.

At Fridman Family Dental Care, our dentists are skilled professionals who have undergone extensive education and training in order to provide high-quality care to their patients. We use a variety of techniques and technologies, including X-rays, cleanings, fillings, and extractions, to diagnose and treat a wide range of dental conditions.

What sets Fridman Family Dental Care apart is the unique way in which we combine art and science. Our dentists not only have a thorough understanding of the latest research and techniques, but they also have a keen eye for aesthetics and the ability to create natural-looking results that blend seamlessly with a patient’s smile.

By coming to your scheduled appointments you can help ensure that your mouth stays healthy for years to come.

Oral Hygiene and Exams

At Fridman Family Dental Care in Santa Clarita, CA, we help patients look forward to their regular dental hygiene appointments. From the moment you walk through our doors, our friendly team will answer questions and help you feel at ease, explaining everything along the way.

We’ll start by looking at your digital x-rays together. Our doctors will listen to your concerns and goals while carefully examining the health of your teeth and gums. We’ll also conduct a bite analysis and oral cancer screening and discuss a customized care plan.

Sit back and relax while our professional dental hygienists gently clean and polish your teeth. We’ll help you feel as comfortable as possible, and you’ll love how clean your teeth feel afterwards!

Dental cleanings are crucial for maintaining oral health and preventing a variety of dental problems. Regular cleanings help remove plaque and tartar buildup that daily brushing and flossing cannot eliminate, reducing the risk of cavities and gum disease.

During a cleaning, your dentist can also identify early signs of dental issues, such as tooth decay or oral cancer, allowing for prompt treatment. Additionally, professional cleanings help maintain fresh breath and ensure that teeth and gums stay healthy, contributing to overall well-being.

Regular dental cleanings are an essential part of a comprehensive oral care routine, promoting a lifetime of healthy smiles.

Gum disease and prevention

Gum disease, also known as periodontal disease, is an infection of the gums and the tissue that surrounds and support the teeth. It is caused by the buildup of plaque, a sticky film of bacteria, on the teeth. There are two main stages of gum disease: gingivitis and periodontitis.

Gingivitis is the milder form of gum disease and is characterized by red, swollen, and bleeding gums. It can usually be reversed with proper oral hygiene.

Periodontitis is a more advanced form of gum disease, in which the gums pull away from the teeth and form pockets that become infected. This can lead to the loss of tissue and bone, which can ultimately result in the loss of teeth.

At Fridman Family Dental Care, we focus on preventing gum disease which involves good oral hygiene, including:

  • Brushing your teeth twice a day with a fluoride toothpaste
  • Cleaning between your teeth daily with floss or interdental cleaners
  • Eating a balanced diet and limiting sugary snacks
  • Visiting your dentist regularly for professional cleanings and checkups

Additionally, quitting smoking or using any form of tobacco products would be a great way to avoid gum disease and other oral health issues. If you already have gum disease, your dentist or periodontist may recommend a specific treatment plan, which might include scaling and root planing (a deep cleaning) and/or other types of therapy.
